Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign was scheduled to make a stop in Chicago this past Friday, but the rally was postponed due to fights between Trump supporters and demonstrators, protests in the streets and concerns that the environment was no longer safe.
Hundreds of demonstrators packed the arena, breaking out into squabbles before Trump even arrived. Trump’s campaign released a statement stating:
“Mr. Trump just arrived in Chicago, and after meeting with law enforcement, has determined that for the safety of all of the tens of thousands of people that have gathered in and around the arena, tonight’s rally will be postponed to another date, Thank you very much for your attendance and please go in peace.”
Multiple fistfights broke out between supporters of Trump and protesters after the announcement that the event would not be taking place.
