With all the negativity and tragedies going on in today’s society, “Wild Things” singer Alessia Cara is using her fanbase to spread a powerful message about beauty, strength and acceptance.
In her new music video for her single “Scars to Your Beautiful”, she includes cancer survivors, transgender men and women, and more to show that beauty doesn’t have one set of qualifications.
“The world sometimes tells us that we shouldn’t be happy with ourselves if we don’t fit certain standards of beauty, ‘Scars To Your Beautiful’ is my reminder that beauty isn’t only one look, shape, size, or color. Beauty comes in all forms — tangible and intangible — inside and out. We need to recognize that,” Cara said in a press release.
In between shots of Cara singing in a warehouse high above the city are shots and video clips of numerous people speaking about how others have responded to their differences. The song lyrics include: “You don’t have to change a thing/ The world can change its heart.”
A couple of artists such as Christina Aguilera, TLC, and even Colbie Caillat have attempted to build up listeners, Cara feels that there’s never enough positivity and she wanted to put her own spin on things.
Alessia will be kicking off her tour on September 29th, the headlining tour will be taking her through 21 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
