Press Play: We Can’t Be Friends If…

We can’t be friends if you don’t like Zayn Malik

Yeah. I said it

We cannot be friends if you do not have at least ONE song from Zayn Malik’s album “Mind of Mine”

Ignore his career with One Direction (it doesn’t count for what I’m saying in this blog post). This man can go with the best of them. His voice is pretty good (not too annoying, but not too over-the-top). His music is actually good (a shame that Radio doesn’t play him often). And he’s really an interesting person (read his recent interviews, you’ll totally get the direction he’s going in)

Need proof? Listen to PILLOWTALK

Need more proof? Check his verse out in the “Back to Sleep” remix with Chris Brown and Usher (which he literally stole the song, no offense to anyone else).

I think it’s safe to say that he has become one of my favorite underrated artists to break out this year. No offense to anyone else that popped out (and I’m completely contradicting myself with my Meghan Trainor article posted a while back, read that one if you want, it’s a great read), but if I had to pick one, it’s gotta be the former frontman of One Direction. Now this isn’t me necessarily agreeing with how he went about the split, nor am I agreeing with his sudden change of direction, but music wise (and this is why I write #PressPlay, because music matters damnit), this man is wildly slept on;

And I gotta ask why

Why don’t you like Zayn?

If it’s not your cup of tea, then I get that. But you’re missing out on good music from this guy if you choose not to at least listen. In that case, I ask you to listen to his album. If not the whole album, at least a few songs. I guarantee you that you’ll appreciate what he’s trying to accomplish here with where he’s going with his career

If at that point you don’t like him, then fine. But we can’t be friends.
